Aloo Sandwich | Mumbai Famous Masala Toast is a delicious snack. This is a very popular street food of Mumbai and most lovable sandwich among all age groups. It uses potato, some spices, green chutney. This has veggies like tomato, onion and capsicum which makes it more healthy and tasty. This is a grilled sandwich which requires fewer efforts and only 10 minutes of cooking That makes it a perfect option for busy mornings. This can be a good tiffin snack and a tea time snack. Moreover, you can easily prepare this sandwich without many efforts. So, try to make this sandwich at your home and enjoy with your loved ones. Do share your feedback with us too.

This sandwich was prepared by Sushmeeta Bubna – Founder of voice vision for visually impaired. Sushmeeta ji is herself visually impaired and cannot see and her organization is into providing computer training to visually challenged people in Mumbai! Her visually challenged students have gone onto work for big companies of the world.

Tips and Suggestions by the Chef:-

  • Mix the spices in the mashed potato so that all ingredients mix well. Then saute it.
  • You can use a sandwich maker, or a gas toaster or even tawa.

Ingredients

  • Brown bread slices - 4
  • Aloo/ Potato - 2 boiled
  • Tamatar/ Tomato - 4 slice
  • Pyaaz/ Onion - 2 slice
  • Shimlamirch/ Capsicum - 2 slice
  • Haldi powder/ Turmeric powder - a pinch or 2
  • Laal Mirch powder/ Red Chilli powder - 2 pinch
  • Sarso/ Mustrard seeds - 1/4 Teaspoon
  • Hari Chutney/ Green Chutney - as required
  • Namak/ Salt - as per taste
  • Butter - as required
  • Tel/ Oil - 1 Teaspoon

Instructions

  1. Peel and mash the boiled potato. Then add salt, turmeric powder, red chilli powder. Mix well.
  2. Heat oil in a pan. Add mustard seeds and let it splutter. Then add potato mixture and sauté it for couple of minutes. Then let it cool.
  3. Apply butter on the bread slices.
  4. Spread green chutney. Then put the potato masala. Put 1 onion, 2 tomato and 1 capsicum slice. Sprinkle salt over the veggies. Cover it with another bread slice.
  5. Spread butter on the sandwich and put it in gas toaster. Toast the sandwich on both the sides until it turns light golden. Then take it out. Cut into 2 pieces.
  6. Delicious 'Aloo Sandwich | Mumbai Famous Masala Toast' is ready to be served.
