Bread Upma – 5 Minute Breakfast Recipe is a yummy dish for all.

Bread Upma – 5 Minute Breakfast Recipe is a quick and easy dish. This requires bread crumbs, onion, tomato, green chilli and some spices. This is a hassle free recipe which uses leftover bread. Upma is a famous South Indian breakfast and has many variations like – Sevaiyya Upma, Sooji Upma, Daliya Upma. In this recipe, bread is used that makes it more interesting and delicious. This can be a good tiffin snack too for kids. It can be prepared within a few minutes so suitable for busy mornings. So, try to make this yummy breakfast for your family and enjoy.

Tips and Suggestions by Mom Chef:-

  • You can use either white bread crumbs or brown bread crumbs.
  • Adjust the spices as per your taste.
  • You can add veggies like peas and carrot to make it more colourful and healthy.

Ingredients

  • Bread Crumbs - 1 Cup
  • Onion - 1 chopped
  • Tomato - 1 Chopped
  • Green chilli - 2 chopped or as per taste
  • Curry Leaves - a spring
  • Mustard seeds - 1/2 Teaspoon
  • Red Chilli Powder - 1/4 Teaspoon or as per taste
  • Garam Masala/All spice mix - 1/4 Teaspoon
  • Salt - as per taste
  • Lemon - 1/2
  • Coriander leaves - 1 to 2 Tablespoon chopped
  • Oil - 1 Tablespoon
  • Water - 1 Cup approx
  • Namkeen Sev - as required for garnishing (option)

Instructions

  1. Take a pan, add oil and heat it.
  2. Add mustard seeds and let it splutter.
  3. Add green chillies and saute it for few seconds. Add curry leaves and onion and saute it until onion turns pinkish.
  4. Then add chopped tomato and cook it until tomato gets soften.
  5. Now, add bread crumbs and saute if for 2 minutes.
  6. Add red chilli powder, salt, garam masala and mix well.
  7. Add water and mix well. Mix and cook for a minute. Add chopped coriander leaves and lemon juice. Then switch off the gas.
  8. Yummy 'Bread Upma' is ready to be served. Garnish it with Namkeen Sev if you want.
