Chhole Sandwich | Chickpea Sandwich is a wholesome snack dish.

Chhole Sandwich | Chickpea Sandwich is a protein-rich dish. Specially, for vegetarians it is very beneficial and stomach filling. The filling for the sandwich makes it a complete healthy dish. It requires, chhole, green, yellow & red capsicum and tomato. The spices like red chili powder and chaat masala make it tasty. While the vegetables add a nice crunch. The toppings like mixed herbs and red chili flakes along with cheese makes it yummy and relishing. So, try this recipe and let us know your feedback in the comment section.

Tips and suggestions by the Chef:-

  • If you are making, chole sabji, keep aside some boiled chole for making this dish.
  • You can add onion to the sandwich mixture.
  • In place of boiled chole, you can make the sandwich mixture using the boiled kala chana or rajma also.
  • Instead of bread, you can use roti for making this snack.
  • In place of butter, you can use ghee.
  • Instead of pan, grill the sandwich in the griller or sandwich maker.

Ingredients

  • Chickpea/Chhole - 1 cup boiled
  • Green Capsicum - 1/2 no finely chopped
  • Yellow Capsicum - 1/2 no finely chopped
  • Red Capsicum - 1/2 no finely chopped
  • Tomato/Tamatar - 1 no finely chopped
  • Coriander leaves - a handful chopped
  • Salt - to taste
  • Red Chili Powder/Lal Mirch Powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Chaat masala - to taste
  • Bread slices - 4 no
  • Cheese slice - 2 (optional)
  • Butter - as required
  • Mixed herbs - to taste (optional)
  • Red chili flakes - to taste (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, take the boiled chhole, mash them with the hand masher or with a big spoon. Keep it slight coarse.
  2. Then, put the finely chopped green, yellow, red capsicum and tomato. Add the chopped coriander leaves, salt to taste, red chili powder and chaat masala. Mix well.
  3. In a tray, take four bread slices, apply butter on two bread slices. Place the mixture in the middle of the buttered bread slices. Sprinkle mixed herbs and red chili flakes.
  4. Now, place the cheese slice over the mixture and keep the bread slices over it. Apply butter on top of the bread slice.
  5. Heat butter on the pan, place the sandwiches on the pan and grill from one side till it is light brown in color. Flip and grill from the other side. Cut in half from the middle.
  6. The Chhole Sandwich | Chickpea Sandwich is ready to served.
