Chutney Sandwich is a super easy, quick, and light sandwich recipe for kids tiffin or tea time snack.

Chutney Sandwich is so simple and yummy recipe. In this sandwich, freshly buttered bread slices are slathered with a mixture of spiced green chutney, grated cucumber, capsicum, onions, and cheese. It can be served as a morning breakfast or evening snack and is also served with your favorite hot/cold beverage. You cannot stop eating when you have a tray full of these chutney sandwiches staring at you. You can make these sandwiches in no time. It takes no time at all to make if you have your green chutney ready. Green chutney takes less than 5 minutes to prepare. So, try to make this sandwich at home and let us know your feedback.

This sandwich was prepared by our talented mom- Shveta Sheth and it is one of her favourite recipes since her childhood.

Tips and Suggestions by Mom Chef:

  1. Squeeze out the water from the grated cucumber very nicely.
  2. Onions are optional but it enhances the taste.
  3. The sandwich can be also prepared in a griller.
  4. When roasting the sandwich on the pan, keep pressing it a little with the spatula. This will make sure that the filling is also cooked nicely.

Ingredients

  • Grated cucumber - 1 big sized
  • Capsicum (green color) - 1/2 medium sized finely chopped
  • Onion - 1/2 small sized finely chopped (optional)
  • Green chilli - 1/2 small sized finely chopped (optional)
  • Salt - as per taste
  • Black pepper powder - a pinch
  • Chat masala - around 1/2 teaspoon
  • Green chutney - 3 to 4 teaspoons as per taste
  • Grated cheese - as required
  • White/Brown/Multigrain Bread - 4 to 5 slices
  • Butter (salted or unsalted) - as required

Instructions

  1. Take a bowl and add grated cucumber(squeezed properly, so that excess water is removed), capsicum, onion, and green chillies.
  2. Add salt, black pepper powder, chat masala as per taste.
  3. Add green chutney and grated cheese. Mix it well.
  4. Take 2 bread slices and spread butter on one side of each bread.
  5. Now spread the sandwich filling on a slice. Spread it properly that it covers all the corners. After filling, cover it with another butter spread slice.
  6. Now heat the pan on medium or low flame. Apply butter on the side, which we have to put on pan.
  7. Now toast the sandwich on a low flame.
  8. Once the bottom side toasted, spread butter on the top side and turn the sandwich.
  9. As the sandwich turns crispy from both the side, take it out and cut into pieces.
  10. Delicious Chutney Sandwich is ready to be served.
