Ghiya ke Kofte

Ghiya ke Kofte or Bottlegourd Kofte is a delicious Indian Curry to be savored hot with fulka or paratha. It is very simple to make recipe and a very popular curry in North India.

Ingredients

  • Bottle Gourd - 1 big piece
  • Besan or Chick pea flour: 2 tablespoon
  • Tomato - 1 piece
  • Green Chili - 1 big piece
  • Ginger - 1 inch piece
  • Vegetable oil for frying
  • Red Chili - 1 teaspoon
  • Coriander powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Turmeric - 1 teaspoon

Instructions

  1. Grate bottle gourd or lauki. Add besan to bind the grated lauki.
  2. Add red chili and salt. Mix well.
  3. Make small round balls of this mix. Raw koftas are ready for frying.
  4. Heat oil in a kadhai for frying kofte. When oil becomes hot, add one by one for frying. Ensure proper frying from all sides. Koftas are ready.
  5. Prepare gravy by grinding ginger, green chili and tomatoes into a smooth paste.
  6. Heat oil and Add Cumin Seeeds and Asafoetida in a pan. Add puree paste. Mix well.
  7. Add turmeric, red chili powder and salt. Mix and cook well for 3-4 minutes.
  8. Add water to make liquid gravy. Stir well until it starts boiling
  9. Add coriander powder in boiling gravy. Mix well.
  10. Add fried koftas to the gravy. Stir well.
  11. Ghiya ke kofte curry is ready...
