Instant Puran Poli is a nice healthy dessert.

Instant Puran Poli is prepared with a little twist. It is a delicious dish with rich flavors yet extremely easy and quick to make. This dish is loved by all age groups, you can pack it for tiffin also. The cardamom powder gives a nice fragrance and taste. In addition, it is served with a generous amount of ghee. Tips and Suggestions by the Mom Chef :

  • The gram flour should be roasted on low flame otherwise it will burn.
  • The ratio of jaggery to gram flour should be 1:1.
  • Maida can be used instead of whole wheat flour.

Ingredients

  • Clarified butter / Ghee - As required
  • Gram flour / Besan - 1 Cup
  • Water - 1 Cup + As required
  • Jaggery powder / Gud - 1 Cup
  • Cardamom powder / Elaichi powder - 1/4 tsp
  • Whole wheat flour / Gehu ka aata - 1 Cup
  • Turmeric powder / Haldi powder - 1/4 tsp
  • tsp = teaspoon
  • tbsp = tablespoon

Instructions

  1. Heat 1 tbsp of ghee in a Wonderchef non stick pan. Add besan and roast it for 4 to 5 minutes on low flame till it becomes golden brown and nice aroma begins to rise.
  2. Then add 1 Cup of water and mix well for 1 to 2 minutes on low flame.
  3. Now add 1 tsp of ghee, jaggery powder, and cardamom powder. Mix well on low flame for 2 to 3 minutes till the jaggery melts and the mixture leaves the pan.
  4. Once done, turn off the flame and let it cool down. Now prepare small round balls from it.
  5. Take whole wheat flour in a bowl. Add turmeric powder and 1 tsp of ghee. Mix well.
  6. Add water gradually to prepare the medium soft dough. Knead it well to prepare the dough without any cracks. Keep it aside for 5 to 7 minutes.
  7. Take the medium-soft wheat dough and make round shaped circular peda from the dough. Dust it with flour and roll a peda to make a roti. Apply ghee to it.
  8. Add the prepared besan mixture ball in the center. Join the edges and seal the roti properly. Dust it with flour. Then roll it with light hands and prepare the puran poli.
  9. Meanwhile, heat a wonderchef non-stick tawa. Place the prepared puran poli on the tawa. Cook on one side.
  10. Flip it once it is slightly brown, apply ghee on both sides, and cook it on a low to medium flame. Press the puran poli while cooking it to make it crispy.
  11. Once done. Take it out to the serving plate. Drizzle ghee on it.
  12. 'Instant Puran Poli' is ready to be served.
