Khakra Chaat – Instant Gujarat Special Snacks

“Khakra chaat” is a very famous dish from the state of Gujarat, that can be made with ease at home. Here, in Germany I miss the Indian street food items, so I am preparing them at my home only. This chat is loved by all in my family and we have it usually on weekend evenings. So, let’s start with the preparations 🙂

Ingredients

  • Khakra - 2 (plain/ masala/ jeera khakra)
  • Sprouted moong dal - 1/2 cup
  • Dahi/Curd - 1/2 cup (mix it with 4 tbsp of water)
  • Tamarind chutney - 1/2 cup
  • Green coriander chutney - 1/2 cup
  • Sev - 1/2 cup
  • Chopped onions, tomatoes, green chilies - 1 each
  • Coriander and mint leaves - As per taste to sprinkle over chaat
  • Salt to taste
  • Lemon juice - 3-4 tablespoon
  • SPICES: Amchur/Dry Mango powder - 1/4 tablespoon
  • Lal mirch/Red Chili powder - 1/4 tablespoon
  • Jeera powder/Roasted Cumin powder - 1/4 tablespoon
  • Chat masala powder - 1/4 tablespoon

Instructions

  1. Take a plate and place 1 broken/ split khakra on it.
  2. Add chopped onions, tomatoes and chilies to it.
  3. Sprinkle some salt and above listed spices to it.
  4. Pour some tamarind and green chutney on it.
  5. Add some sprouted moong dal, curd and sev to it.
  6. Garnish the chat with chopped lemon juice, mint and coriander leaves.
  7. Note : Recipe for green chutney, tamarind chutney, and chole gravy curry is mentioned above for your reference.
  8. Tempting and delicious "Khakra chaat" is ready to be served.
