Ingredients

  • Red lentil / Masoor Dal - 1 Cup
  • Hot water - As required
  • Dry red chilli / Sukhi lal mirchi - 2
  • Asafoetida / Hing - 1/2 tsp
  • Ginger-green chilli paste / Adarak-hari mirchi paste - 1 tsp
  • Salt - As per taste
  • Clarified butter / Ghee - As required
  • Coriander leaves / Hara dhaniya - A handful
  • Cottage cheese / Paneer - 1 Cup grated
  • Red chilli powder / Lal mirchi powder - As required
  • tsp = teaspoon
  • tbsp = tablespoon

Instructions

  1. Wash and soak masoor dal in hot water for 15 minutes. Then strain it.
  2. Transfer it to a grinding jar. Add dry red chilli, asafoetida, and ginger-green chilli paste. Gring it for a few seconds by adding little water.
  3. Then take it out to a bowl. Add little water and salt. Mix well and prepare medium thick consistency batter.
  4. Heat a tawa. Grease it with ghee. Then pour a ladleful of dosa batter and spread it to make a thick dosa. Add some drops of ghee to it. Cover the pan with a lid and cook it for 2 to 3 minutes on medium to high flame.
  5. Then flip it to cook from another side as well. Add some drops of ghee to it. Cook it for 1 to 2 minutes on medium to high flame.
  6. Now add paneer vertically to the centre of the dosa. Sprinkle salt and red chilli powder on it. Then add coriander leaves on it.
  7. Then fold its left and right parts. Press it and transfer it to a serving plate.
  8. 'Masoor Dal Paneer Dosa' is ready to be served.
