Mawa Modak | Khoya Modak is a mouthwatering prasad for the occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi.

Mawa Modak | Khoya Modak is a delicious sweet made with homemade mawa. This is quick and easy to make with only a few ingredients. As Ganesh Chaturthi is on its way, try to make this easiest modak at your end. This modak is free of any adulteration, preservatives and additives that make it very healthy. This has the flavour of saffron and dry fruits. So, try to make this modak at your end and let us know your feedback.

Tips and Suggestions by Mom Chef:-

  • You can make the modak with mould as well as with hands. Use a fork to make a design on modak.
  • Let the mixture cool completely else it will difficult to make modak.
  • You can use homemade condensed milk or powdered sugar to make modak.

Ingredients

  • Milk Powder - 1 Cup
  • Milk - 1/2 Cup
  • Saffron Strands - few
  • Condensed Milk - 2 Tablespoon or as per taste
  • Cardamom Powder - 1/4 Teaspoon
  • Pistachios/Pista - as required
  • Chopped Dry Fruits - as required
  • Ghee/Clarified butter - 1 Tablespoon + for greasing

Instructions

  1. Soak saffron strands in the warm milk. Keep aside for 10 minutes
  2. Now, heat a pan add ghee and melt it.
  3. Then add saffron milk to it and bring it to boil.
  4. Add milk powder in batches and mix well on a medium flame. Make sure it should be lumps free. Cook the mixture until it forms together and leaves the side.
  5. Once done, take it out and let it cool completely.
  6. Add condensed milk, cardamom powder, chopped dry fruits to it. Mix well.
  7. Now, take modak mould and grease it with ghee/butter.
  8. Place pistachios in the modak mould. Then fill it with mawa mixture. Remove excess mixture, de-mould it and keep it on a plate.
  9. If you do not have modak mould then you can make the modak with hands. Take a lemon size ball of mawa mixture. Shape it like modal then make lines on it using a fork.
  10. Delicious 'Mawa Modak | Khoya Modak' is ready to be served.
