Patishapta | Traditional Bengali Sweet Recipe is a famous and easy Bengali sweet and is very delicious.

Patishapta | Traditional Bengali Sweet Recipe is a delicious sweet dish like a stuffed pancake. The pancake is made of milk, refined flour and sugar. The pancake is stuffed with a mixture of milk solids/Khoya/mawa, coconut, sugar and rice flour. It is a mouthwatering Bengali sweet and is very easy to prepare too. So, try this melt-in-the-mouth sweet and let us know how you liked it.

Ingredients

  • FOR PANCAKE BATTER:-
  • Maida /Refined flour - 150 Gram
  • Milk - 500 Millilitre
  • Sooji/Semolina - 100 Gram
  • Water - as required
  • FOR STUFFING:-
  • Khoya/Milk Solids - 250 Gram
  • Sugar - 100 Gram + 50 Gram
  • Rice Flour - 50 Gram or as required
  • Fresh Coconut - 1 grated
  • Elaichi/Cardamom powder - 1/2 Teaspoon
  • OTHER INGREDIENTS:-
  • Oil - as required for greasing
  • Brinjal - 1

Instructions

  1. Take a bowl, add sooji and little water to make a thick batter. Rest the batter for 10 minutes.
  2. Take another bowl, add milk and 100 grams sugar. Mix it until the dissolves. Rest it for 10 minutes.
  3. Meanwhile, roast the khoya/mava for 10 minutes on a low flame. Keep aside to cool.
  4. Take a kadai, heat it. Add roasted mawa, 50 grams sugar and grated coconut. Roast it for about 10 minutes on a low flame. (You can adjust the sugar level as per your taste)
  5. Then switch off the flame, sprinkle the rice flour. Mix well. It will become thick. Then add elaichi powder and mix. Keep aside.
  6. Now, take a bowl. Add sugar-Milk mix. Add sooji batter, maida. Mix well to make a batter. This should be a little thin. Rest the batter for 15-30 minutes.
  7. Take a non-stick pan. Heat it.
  8. Cut the brinjal in half. Grease the pan with oil using this brinjal piece.
  9. When the pan is hot, pour a ladleful batter.
  10. Cook it on a low flame.
  11. Once cooked, add a spoonful of khoya mix on it.
  12. Fold it to make a roll.
  13. Yummy 'Patishapta' is ready to be served.
