Potato Smiley | Baked Potato Smiley is a simple snack item that is quite popular among the kids. The kids will love it because of its crispy, savoury, and obviously the pleasant smile on it. Since it is homemade it is better for the kids and is healthier, hence can be served and eaten guilt-free. Since these smileys are baked in the oven instead of deep-frying, these are a healthier option than the ones that we get in the market. Tips and suggestions by the Chef:-

  • While preparing the dough, you can use either bread crumbs or corn flour, or poha flour.  You can use all three of them together or any two of them that are available to you.
  • To prepare the poha flour, grind poha or flattened rice in a grinder and make it into a fine powder.

Ingredients

  • Aloo/ Potato - 2 big boiled
  • Crushed Poha/ Flattened rice - 2 tablespoon
  • Corn flour - 1 to 2 tablespoon
  • Namak/ Salt - as per taste
  • Oil - 1 tablespoon + for greasing

Instructions

  1. Pre-heat the oven for 10 minutes on 180 degrees.
  2. Meanwhile, in a bowl, grate boiled potatoes and add poha, corn flour, salt, and turmeric into it to make a smooth dough.
  3. Sprinkle corn flour on a flat surface or your rolling board and place the dough on it. Flatten the dough with your hands and give it a round shape. Sprinkle some corn flour on it whenever you feel the dough is sticking to the board.
  4. Roll it using the rolling pin keeping the dough a little thick.
  5. Cut them into circles using any cutter or utensil that is available to you. Use a straw to make the eyes of the smiley and a spoon to make the smile of the same.
  6. Place a butter paper on a baking tray and grease it with oil. Grease and place the smileys on the butter paper and place them in the top rack of the oven.
  7. Let it cook in the oven for 18 minutes on toast mode at 180 degrees.
