Pyaaz Gawar Phali Sabzi is very easy and simple dish for tiffin box or lunch.

Pyaaz Gawar Phali Sabzi is a very quick and delicious dish that combines beautifully with phulkas. Gawar Phali/Cluster beans are good in protein, calcium and phosphorus. It is prepared from minimum spices and ingredients. It is also rich in dietary fibre and helps in maintaining good digestive system. Gawar Phali/Cluster Beans and onion are the main ingredients in this recipe. Gawar Phali/Cluster Beans take long time to cook so it is steamed or pressure cooked . Generally, cluster beans are not liked by many, but try our method of cooking and I assure, everyone in your family will definitely enjoy it. Pyaaz Gawar Phali sabzi is a healthy and quick recipe with minimum ingredients and is easy to carry for lunch or kids tiffin. Moreover, it is an effortless dish with minimum time. Tips and Suggestions by Mom Chef:-

  • Fresh, tender, small or medium-size Gawar phali/Cluster beans are preferred.
  • Cut the Gawar phali/Cluster beans in small pieces , so that it can easily cook with minimum time.
  • To cook the sabzi quickly , use pressure cooker.
  •  Pyaaz Gawar Phali Sabzi goes well with chapati, phulkas, or parathas.

Ingredients

  • Oil - around 2 tablespoon
  • Cumin Seeds / Jeera - 1 teaspoon
  • Mustard seeds / Rai - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Asafoetida /Hing - a pinch
  • Onion - 1 medium size sliced
  • Cluster beans / Gawar phali - 250 Grams
  • Turmeric Powder / Haldi Powder - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Red Chilli Powder / Lal Mirch Powder - 1 teaspoon or more as per taste
  • Coriander Powder / Dhaniya Powder - double the quantity of red chilli powder
  • Salt - as per taste
  • Water - 1 tablespoon
  • Lemon - few drops

Instructions

  1. Heat oil in a pressure cooker.
  2. Add cumin seeds, mustard seeds and a pinch of hing/Asafoetida.
  3. Add large sliced onion and saute it, but don't over cook.
  4. Add gawar phali/cluster beans and sprinkle water in it .
  5. Add turmeric powder , red chilli powder and coriander powder. Saute them well.
  6. Add salt as per taste.
  7. Add a table spoon of water. Mix it well.
  8. Lastly cover the pressure cooker and keep it on high flame.
  9. With in 30 to 40 sec it will cook. As you see that it is going to whistle, turn off the gas flame. No need to let it whistle.
  10. After the steam comes out , open the pressure cooker.
  11. Now, take the sabzi in a bowl and add a dash of lemon to it.
  12. Delicious Pyaaz Gawar Phali Sabzi is ready to be served.
