Here, is a simple and quick recipe of Pyaaz Ke Bharwa Karele to get benefited from this super veggie. This is not only healthy but tasty also. You can easily prepare this sabzi at home without any hassle. Because of the bitterness of karela/bitter gourd, people don’t like to eat it. Ingredients

  • Bitter Gourd - 4
  • Onion - 3 Tablespoon
  • Turmeric powder - 1/4 Teaspoon
  • Red Chilli Powder - 1 Teaspoon
  • Coriander Powder - 2 Teaspoon
  • Amchur/Dry Mango Powder - 1 Teaspoon
  • Cumin seeds - 1/2 Teaspoon
  • Asafoetida/Heeng - a pinch
  • Salt - as per taste
  • Oil - 1 Teaspoon

Instructions

  1. Wash and peel the bitter gourd. Make a slit and remove the seeds. Boil the bitter gourd in a water for 10 minutes. Then take them out and squeeze the water.
  2. Now, take a kadai. Add oil and heat it.
  3. Add asafoetida and cumin seeds. Let the seeds crackle.
  4. Add chopped onion and saute it until translucent.
  5. Then add bitter gourd. Mix and saute it for a minute.
  6. Add turmeric powder, red chilli powder, coriander powder, dry mango powder, salt. Mix well and cook.
  7. Once the masala and the bitter gourd gets cooked, switch off the gas.
  8. Yummy 'Pyaaz Ke Bharwa Karele' is ready to be served.
