Rice Kheer – Indian Dessert

Kheer is a traditional dessert in India which is made very often as it is simple, easy, tasty and healthy dish. With only minimal ingredients required, this dessert is equally liked by adults and kids.

Ingredients

  • Milk - 2 liter
  • Soaked Rice ( Tukda Basmati or any basmati) - 100 gms
  • Bay leaf - 1
  • Chopped dry fruits for garnishing
  • Sugar - 2 cups or as per taste

Instructions

  1. Heat a thick bottomed pan and add milk.
  2. Bring milk to a boil, lower the heat and add bay leaf. Add the rice and mix properly. Cook the mixture on slow flame until rice is cooked properly.
  3. Add sugar to it and keep cooking. Meanwhile keep scraping the sides of the pan so that the cream doesn't stick and emit a burnt smell.
  4. Keep scraping from the bottom also so that rice doesn't stick.
  5. When done, remove bay leaf. Garnish with chopped dry fruits.
  6. Serve Rice Kheer cold or hot as per your taste.
