Sabudana Khichdi | Fasting Special Recipe is a fasting special recipe popular all over India.

Sabudana Khichdi | Fasting Special Recipe is an evergreen superfood made everywhere in India during fasting days during festival time. It uses sabudana/sago cooked with potatoes, tomatoes, green chillies and roasted peanuts. Sabudana/sago is a superfood as it is full of energy and carbohydrates. This is very good to have it for breakfast as it keeps you going for the day. Besides this, it is also very rich in calcium and potassium so very good for kids and pregnant ladies as helps in bone growth. So, add this superfood to your diet with this yummy tasty recipe.

Ingredients

  • Sabudana/ sago - 1 Cup
  • Roasted peanuts/ moongfali - 2 Tablespoon
  • Boiled chopped potatoes/ aloo - 1 big sized
  • Chopped tomato/ tamatar - 1
  • Green coriander/ dhaniya patta - a handful
  • Green chilies/ hari mirch - 1 chopped
  • Lemon juice/ neembu ras - juice of 1 lemon or as per taste
  • Black Pepper powder - 1/2 Teaspoon
  • Ground nut oil or Ghee/Clarified butter - 1 Tablespoon
  • Sendha namak/ rock salt - as per taste

Instructions

  1. Wash the sabudana twice. Soak Sabudana in water for 4-5 hours and then drain the water completely.
  2. Heat oil in a pan. Add chopped green chilli to it.
  3. Then add boiled chopped potato and saute it for a minute.
  4. Then add chopped tomato to it. Saute it. Cook for a minute.
  5. Add soaked sabudana to it. Mix well.
  6. Add sendha namak and black pepper powder, coriander leaves and lemon juice. Mix well and cook.
  7. Add roasted peanuts and mix well. Cook for a minute then switch off the gas. Take out in a serving bowl.
  8. Delicious Sabudana Khichdi' is ready to be served.
