Seviyan Upma – Instant Breakfast in 10 Minutes

Easy to cook and very tasty Seviyan is my favourite breakfast. I make it always whenever I feel like eating this. Try my very simple recipe and enjoy and remember me.

Ingredients

  • Sooji Seviyan - 1 cup
  • Onion chopped - 1 small
  • Green chilli chopped - 1 no.
  • Curry leaves - 5-6
  • Ginger grated - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Ghee - 1 tablespoon + 2 tablespoons
  • Mustard seeds - 1 teaspoon
  • Chana dal & urad dal - 1/2 tablespoon each
  • Haldi - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Salt to taste
  • Lemon juice - 1 teaspoon
  • Corainder leaves chopped - 1 tablespoon
  • Water - 1 1/2 cups

Instructions

  1. Heat one tablespoon of ghee in a pan and roast the seviyan till it is light brown in colour. Keep aside.
  2. Now heat 2 tablespoons of ghee in the pan and add mustard seeds. Let it crackle.
  3. Now add chana dal and urad dal and fry till it changes its colour slightly.
  4. Add ginger, green chilli, curry leaves, onion and haldi and saute well till onion is translucent.
  5. Add water and salt and let it come to a boil.
  6. Now add the roasted seviyan to the boiling water and mix well.
  7. Cover with a lid and cook few minutes till all the water is fully absorbed.
  8. Switch off the flame. Put lemon juice and coriander leaves and mix well.
  9. Hot and tasty 'Seviyan Upma' is ready to serve with tomato sauce.
