Sooji Uttapam | Sooji Chilla is a perfectly healthy, easy, and tasty recipe that can be prepared within minutes. The main ingredients are sooji, onion, tomato, coriander leaves, and spices as per taste. It can be served for early morning breakfast or evening snack with a choice of chutney and tomato sauces.   • Add vegetables of your choice.
  • Quantity of water depends on the quality of sooji so add water accordingly, it will absorb water after soaking, so the final batter should be of medium thickness to spread it easily, don’t make a thin batter.

Ingredients

  • Onion - 1 small-sized finely chopped
  • Tomato - 1 small-sized finely chopped
  • Coriander leaves - 1 tablespoon finely chopped
  • Sooji/ semolina - 3 tablespoons
  • Curd - 3 teaspoons
  • Water - as required for the consistency
  • Salt - as required
  • Red chili powder - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Ghee/ Clarified butter - as required for greasing

Instructions

  1. Take a bowl, add onion, tomato, coriander leaves, sooji, curd, water, salt, and red chili powder. Mix it well with the help of a whisk, without forming any lumps.
  2. Rest it for 10 to 20 minutes till it swells completely.
  3. Now grease the pan with ghee and spread a ladleful of batter thickly.
  4. Pour 1/2 to 1 teaspoon of ghee around the edges. Cover and cook the chilla for 2 minutes or till it gets cooked well.
  5. Flip over and press gently making sure chilla gets cooked from both sides.
  6. Continue to simmer for another minute or till the chilla gets cooked completely.
  7. Delicious Sooji Uttapam | Sooji Chilla is ready to be served.
