Stuffed Idli | Paneer Stuffed Idli | Idli Sandwich

This Paneer stuffed Idli was prepared by Archana Chakravarthy – a lovely Mom from Karnataka. 

Stuffed Idli | Paneer Stuffed Idli | Idli Sandwich is a delicious and innovative breakfast and snack option for all, especially kids.

World Idli Day is celebrated on March 30th every year and Idlis are the healthiest and yummiest breakfast option! Each idli has 50-75 calories and is filling in nature, so it’s a very good option for weight loss too!  Did you know that Rava Idli was invented during World War II by @mtr_foods  as there was a shortage of rice! They tried Rava or Semolina in place of that and now Rava Idli has become the most popular breakfast option in Southern India because it is tasty, quick to make and super fluffy.

Stuffed Idli | Paneer Stuffed Idli | Idli Sandwich is a nice twist to the regular idli. This is a must try if you are bored with the regular idli. This is delicious idli which you can call as an idli sandwich. Kids will also be amazed to see this dish. Though it does not require any chutney as it is tasty in itself. But if you want you can serve it with a variety of chutneys. This is instantly made and does not require any soaking, grinding and fermentation. Hence it is very quick and super easy to make. This is very filling that makes it an ideal breakfast option and tiffin snack option. This is very healthy as this uses paneer-potato stuffing. So, try to make this yummy version of the idli and let us know how you liked it.

  • You can do an experiment to make stuffing. There many variations possible.
  • Sour curd is a must to make the idli soft, fluffy and melt in the mouth.
  • You can use oil or ghee to make the stuffing.

Ingredients

  • INGREDIENTS FOR STUFFING:-
  • Paneer/Cottage Cheese - 100 Gram grated or crumbled
  • Boiled Potato - 1 mashed
  • Cumin seeds - 1/2 Teaspoon
  • Asafoetida/Heeng - a pinch
  • Garam Masala/All Spice Mix - a pinch
  • Green Chilli - 1 (optional)
  • Salt - as per taste
  • Ghee/Clarified Butter - 2 Teaspoon
  • Coriander leaves - 2 Tablespoon
  • INGREDIENTS FOR IDLI BATTER:-
  • MTR Rava Idli Mix - 1 Cup
  • Sour Curd - 1 & 1/2 Cup
  • Salt - a Pinch
  • Fried Cashews - as required (optional)
  • Oil - as required for greasing

Instructions

  1. PREPARING THE STUFFING:- Take a pan or kadai. Add ghee and heat it.
  2. Add cumin seeds and asafoetida and let the cumin seeds crackle. Then add green chilli.
  3. Add mashed boiled potato and grated paneer. Mix well.
  4. Add chopped coriander leaves, salt and pinch of garam masala. Give a nice stir. Cook it for a minute or 2 then switch off the gas.
  5. PREPARING THE IDLI BATTER:-
  6. Take a bowl, add instant rava idli mix and 1/2 cup sour curd. Mix well. Add a pinch of salt and mix well.
  7. Then add 1 cup curd and mix well. Rest the batter for 1 to 2 minutes.
  8. PREPARING STUFFED IDLI:-
  9. Boil water in a steamer or pressure cooker.
  10. Meanwhile, grease the idli plate or mould with oil. Place one-one fried cashew in each mould.
  11. Fill the idli mould half with the batter. Add spoonful of the stuffing in the centre. Cover it with idli batter.
  12. Put the Idli plate in the steamer and steam it for about 12 minutes.
  13. Once cooked, take them out.
  14. Delicious 'Stuffed Idli | Paneer Stuffed Idli | Idli Sandwich' is ready to be served.
