Veg Pakoda – Whole Wheat (without Frying) is a delicious and healthy pakoda. This pakoda made with whole wheat flour, potato, onion, some spice, green chilli, coriander leaves. This is an oil-free recipe made in the appe pan. It is very easy to prepare, crispy snack. It can be a party starter, tiffin snack or a tea time snack. So, try this healthy and tasty snack and enjoy with your family.

Ingredients

  • Whole Wheat Flour - 1 Cup
  • Potato - 2 finely chopped
  • Onion - 2 finely chopped
  • Green chilli - 2 finely chopped
  • Ginger - 1 inch piece finely chopped
  • Coriander leaves - a handful chopped
  • Red chilli powder - 1/2 Teaspoon
  • Turmeric powder - 1/2 Teaspoon
  • Garam Masala/All spice mix - 1/2 Teaspoon
  • Heeng/Asafoetida - a pinch
  • Fennel Seeds - 1 Teaspoon
  • Ajwain/Carom seeds - 1/4 Teaspoon
  • Salt - as per taste
  • Water - as required to make batter
  • Oil - as required

Instructions

  1. Take a bowl, add wheat flour, finely chopped potato, finely chopped onion, finely chopped green chilli, ginger, coriander leaves, salt, red chilli powder, turmeric powder, garam masala, heeng, fennel seeds, ajwain. Mix all together. Make a thick batter by adding water.
  2. Meanwhile, heat an appe pan.
  3. Grease each cavity with few drops of oil.
  4. Add a spoonful of batter, cook it on a medium-low flame.
  5. Once it turns light brown in colour from one side then flip it and cook from another side until light brown.
  6. When done, take it out on a serving plate.
  7. Yummy 'Veg Pakoda – Whole Wheat (without Frying)' is ready to be served with chutney or sauce.
