Amla – Gooseberry is very healthy and has many medicinal values. It can be consumed in many ways. But if you are a person who like achaar/pickle and also want to consume less oil, then this recipe is for you all. On top of it, Amla and Methidana – makes it double healthy.

Ingredients

  • Fresh Amla/Gooseberry - 250 gms
  • Methi dana - 100 gms
  • Red chili powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Turmeric powder - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Dry Mango powder- 1/2 teaspoon
  • Cumin Seeds, Mustard Seeds, kalaunji - 1/4 tspn each
  • Asafoetida powder - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Salt as per taste
  • Oil - 1 1/2 teaspoon

Instructions

  1. Wash and boil the Amla for one boil. Cover it and keep aside for 10 mins.
  2. Boil water and add dana methi to it for 2-3 mins and cover it. Keep aside for 5-10 mins.
  3. Deseed the boiled Amla and make pieces.
  4. Meanwhile take a wok/kadhai and heat oil. When hot, give tadka of Cumin Seeds, Mustard Seeds, kalaunji and asafoetida powder.
  5. Add the amla pieces and stir fry. Add salt and haldi powder. Cook for 2 mins.
  6. Add the methi dana after draining/removing the excess water.
  7. Add dry mango powder and red chili powder.
  8. Mix well and cook for some more time on low flame.
  9. When the oil separates, off the flame and your amla achaar is ready.
