Bombay Halwa | Karachi Halwa | Corn Flour Halwa is a yummy dessert for all.

Bombay Halwa | Karachi Halwa | Corn Flour Halwa has melt-in-the-mouth texture. This soft and delicious dessert uses corn flour, sugar, ghee and some cashew nuts. This does not require very much time to get ready. This quick and easy recipe which requires 5-minute effort and simple ingredients. This chewy and tasty halwa will be loved by all, especially kids. So, try this easy recipe at home and enjoy!!

This lip-smacking halwa was prepared by Lalitha Jagannathan – A 72-years-old lovely grandmom from Karnataka who loves to sing and cook. 

Tips and Suggestions by Mom Chef:-

  • Mix cornflour with water. It should be lumps free. Mix it thoroughly before mixing it with sugar syrup.
  • You can use saffron instead of food colour. Add saffron while making the sugar syrup.
  • Stir the mixture continuously while cooking it.
  • You can use the essence of your choice. We used vanilla essence.

Ingredients

  • Corn Flour - 1/4 Cup
  • Water - 3/4 Cup for mix cornflour and 1/4 Cup for sugar syrup
  • Sugar - 3/4 Cup
  • Cashew Nuts - 2 to 3 Tablespoon chopped
  • Ghee/Clarified butter - 1 Tablespoon
  • Vanilla Essence - 3/4 Teaspoon
  • Orange food colour - 1/4 Teaspoon

Instructions

  1. Take a bowl, add corn flour. Add 3/4 Cup water and mix well.
  2. Take a small pan, add a tablespoon of ghee and heat it. Fry the chopped cashew nuts. Keep aside.
  3. Take a pan, add sugar and 1/4 cup water. Heat and melt the sugar on high flame while stirring continuously.
  4. Then lower the flame and cook it.
  5. Once it reaches to one string consistency add corn flour mix. Mix then add the corn flour.
  6. Stir the mixture continuously and cook it on a medium flame.
  7. When it thickens, add cashew nuts with ghee. Mix well and cook.
  8. Finally add vanilla essence and orange food colour. Mix well and cook.
  9. When the mixture leaves the pan and comes together then switch off the gas.
  10. Grease a pan with ghee. Pour the mixture in it. Let it cool. Then cut into pieces.
  11. Yummy 'Bombay Halwa' is ready to be served.
