Ingredients

  • Bread Slices- 4 to 5
  • Onions- 1 medium/big size
  • Green chillies- 1 piece
  • Tomatoes- 1 big medium size
  • Potato - 1 medium slice (optional)
  • Coriander - 1 handful/bunch
  • Lemon juice of 1/2 lemon
  • Peanuts/Shenga/Moongfali - 1 small cup
  • Oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Jeera/Cumin - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Mustard/rai - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Curry Leaves - 1 Sprig
  • Salt as per taste
  • Turmeric/Haldi powder - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Red chilli powder - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Garam masala - 1/2 pinch

Instructions

  1. Cut bread into an inch sized square bites.
  2. If using potato, peel and cut into thing long fingers or wedges.
  3. Chop tomatoes, green chillies, onions (thin long ones) and fresh coriander leaves. Remove juice of lemon in a bowl.
  4. Heat oil. When hot, deep fry the peanuts and remove it onto a plate or better over the bread pieces.
  5. If using potato, then fry the potato fingers/wedges and remove. Keep that aside.
  6. In the remaining oil, Add tadka of jeera/cumin and rai/mustard. Add curry leaves and green chillies. Saute. Add onions and saute them. Add tomatoes and mix. Saute all. Now add lemon juice and again mix well.
  7. Mix salt, haldi powder, red chilli powder, pinch garam masala (optional) to the tadka and mix well.
  8. Now Add the bread pieces, fried potato fingers and the fried peanuts to this and mix well. Cook on low flame till all bread pieces are mixed well and you can see the color. (As you do for poha).
  9. Garnish with chopped green dhania/coriander.
  10. Serve Bread Pulao hot. Tasty and yummy dish ready which is light on tummy. :)
