Ingredients

Roasted Chana Daal Atta/flour - 1 bowl
Powdered sugar - 3/4 bowl
Ghee - 1/2 to 3/4 bowl
Green Cardamom/Elaichi powder - 1 teaspoon
Almonds/Badam, Kaju/Cashew, Akhrot/Walnuts ke chote tukde - A handful
Saffron/Kesar or Food Color - 7-8 strands soaked in little milk or 1 pinch food color dissolved in water to form thick paste

Instructions

Use ready-made chana dal atta or dry roast chana dal and grind to a powder.
Alternatively, take roasted deskinned chana/phutana and grind to fine powder.
Sieve the flour.
Heat ghee to clarify it fully. (If it is semi solid or thick)
Take chana dal atta in a mixing bowl. Add powdered sugar to it. Add elaichi powder, some chopped almonds/cashews/walnuts as per your taste. Add some saffron strands and keep the remaining for decoration.
Add ghee to it, little at a time and mix well. Keep adding ghee and mixing it till the mixture starts forming lumps.
Once that stage is reached, stop adding ghee. Take some mixture and start pressing it to bind it to your desired shape.
Once done, place it on a plate/bowl or tray. Repeat for the rest of the mixture.
Once these are done, decorate with almonds/food color/cashews/pista/dry coconut/saffron/roasted chana dal as per your imagination.
Your chana dal sattu is ready. These can be made in bulk and stored for more than a month.
