Chhena Soup is a healthy and tasty soup for everyone.

Chhena Soup is a very nutritious and lip-smacking soup. This uses chhena and its residue which is called whey. Basically this is taste out of the waste recipe. We generally throw the water when we prepare the paneer/cottage cheese at home. The whey is also loaded with nutrients. So, by using this you will nutrients of whey as well. You don’t need many ingredients to prepare this soup. Moreover, this does not require much preparation and time. This clear soup is very soothing, especially in the winter season. So, try to make this soup at home and let us know your feedback.

  • This soup is made of whey which is the residue when we prepare paneer at home.
  • You can add boiled veggies like a carrot to make it healthier.

Ingredients

  • INGREDIENTS FOR CHHENA:
  • Doogh/ Milk - 500 ml
  • Nimbu Ras/ Lemon juice - 1 to 2 Tablespoon
  • INGREDIENTS FOR SOUP:
  • Hara Shimlamirch/ Green Capsicum - 2 Tablespoon finely chopped
  • Hari Mirch/ Green Chilli - 1 finely chopped
  • Dhaniya Patta/ Coriander Leaves - a handful chopped
  • Namak/ Salt - as per taste
  • Kali Mirch powder/ Black Pepper powder - as per taste
  • Tel/ Oil - 1 Teaspoon

Instructions

  1. FOR PREPARING CHHENA:
  2. Boil the milk. Then add lemon juice to it and mix well. Turn off the flame. You will see the milk curdling.
  3. Drain the curdled milk with a muslin cloth. Keep the water (whey) aside. Let the solids (chhena) cool completely.
  4. Make small balls of the chhena and keep them aside.
  5. FOR PREPARING THE SOUP:
  6. Heat oil in a pan.
  7. Add chopped green capsicum and green chilli. Sauté for a couple of minutes on a high flame.
  8. Then add water from the curdled milk (whey). Add salt, black pepper powder and coriander leaves. Let it boil then turn off the flame.
  9. Put the chhena balls in a serving bowl. Pour the soup in the bowl.
  10. Delicious and very healthy 'Chhena Soup' is ready to be served.
