Chinese Bhel | Crispy Noodle Salad is a lip-smacking snack recipe from the streets of India. 

Chinese Bhel | Crispy Noodle Salad is a crunchy and flavourful snack. The fried noodles are tossed with sauteed veggies and some Chinese sauces. This is a fusion recipe and popular street food in India. This is a perfect recipe to indulge without any reason and satisfy your taste buds. The blend of sauces with the crunchiness of noodles and veggies give good taste. This can be a good party snack or an evening tea time snack. The good thing is, it does not require much preparation and time. So, try to make this mouthwatering snack at home and enjoy with your family and friends.

This yummy snack was prepared under the live cooking contest ‘Zayka Premier League’ by a lovely mom from Chennai – Kanchan Chabaria.

Tips and Suggestions by Mom Chef:-

  • Adjust the level of spice as per your taste.
  • If you want you can avoid garlic.
  • Fry the noodles on a high flame to get crispy noodles. Keep stirring it while frying.
  • Do not overcook the veggies else it will not be crunchy.
  • Serve the bhel immediately after mixing the sauteed vegetables else the noodles may turn soggy.

Ingredients

  • Noodles - 200 Gram
  • Gobi/ Cabbage - 1/2 Cup Shredded
  • Gajar/ Carrot - 1/2 Cup julienne
  • Shimlamirch/ Capsicum - 1/2 Cup julienne
  • Lehsun/ Garlic - 2 to 3 cloves crushed
  • Tamatar/ Tomato - 1/2 chopped
  • Red Chilli sauce - as per taste
  • Soy Sauce - 1 Teaspoon
  • Tomato sauce - 1 to 2 Tablespoon or as per taste
  • Vinegar - 1/2 Teaspoon
  • Namak/ Salt - as per taste
  • Tel/ Oil - 1 Teaspoon + 1 Teaspoon + for frying
  • Namkeen sev - as required for garnishing

Instructions

  1. Boil water in a vessel. Then add noodles and a teaspoon of oil. Break the noodles with a spoon. Once the noodles are cooked, drain the water completely using a sieve. Pour cold water over the noodles. Let them cool.
  2. Meanwhile, heat a pan. Add a teaspoon of oil.
  3. Add shredded cabbage and sauté it on a high flame.
  4. Then add carrot julienne and sauté it. Add capsicum julienne and sauté it for a minute. Do not overcook the veggies; keep them crunchy.
  5. Now, add crushed garlic and sauté it.
  6. Add soy sauce, red chilli sauce, tomato ketchup. Mix well and cook it on a low flame. Add little salt and mix well. Turn off the gas and keep vegetables aside.
  7. Heat oil for frying. Once the oil is hot, add boiled noodles. Fry them on a high flame while stirring.
  8. When the colour of the noodles changes to nice golden brown, take them out on a tissue paper.
  9. Take a bowl, add fried noodles and crush them with hands.
  10. Add cooked veggies and chopped tomato. Mix lightly. Transfer to a serving plate and garnish with namkeen sev.
  11. Delicious 'Chinese Bhel | Crispy Noodle Salad' is ready to be served.
