Choorma Laddoo is offered to Lord Ganesh on the occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi.

Choorma Laddoo is a yummy ladoo made of choorma. This is a famous Prasad in Gujarat offered to Lord Ganesh on the occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi. Generally, the dough is fried to make choorma then laddoo but in this recipe, it is non-fried. They taste very good. This is a very healthy recipe with the goodness of whole wheat flour and jaggery.

Ingredients

  • Whole Wheat Flour/Aata - 1 Cup
  • Oil (any) - 1/3 Cup
  • Ghee/Clarified butter - 1/2 Cup OR use as required
  • Jaggery - 1/2 Cup grated
  • Elaichi/Cardamom powder - 1/4 Teaspoon
  • Nutmeg powder - a pinch
  • Khuskhus/Poppy seeds - 1/2 Teaspoon

Instructions

  1. Add oil to wheat flour. Mix it and make a dough using water. Make a semi-soft dough out of it.
  2. Make a chapati bit thick. Heat a tawa and roast the roti on the medium flame from both sides.
  3. Let chapatis get cool. Then crush the chapati. Grind it using a grinder. Sieve it gound chapati.
  4. Heat 2 tablespoons of clarified butter to kadai then add the mixture.
  5. Roast it for 5 minutes. Then transfer it to the thali.
  6. Again add 2 tablespoon ghee to Kadai. Heat the ghee then add grated jaggery. Mix it until it melts.
  7. The jaggery starts bubbling then add the roasted mixture and mix. Then switch off the flame.
  8. Add cardamom powder, nutmeg powder and poppy seeds to it. Mix again.
  9. Make Modak Shape laddoo using a modak mould. OR Make small ladoo out of the mixture. Keep on the plate.
  10. Yummy 'Choorma Ladoo' is ready to be served.
