Coconut Chutney | South Indian Coconut Chutney is a traditional recipe. This quick and easy chutney requires fresh coconut, roasted Bengal gram, some green chillies, tamarind, curry leaves. You can add coriander leaves to give a nice colour to the chutney. This is simple and easy to prepare which goes well with idli, dosa, vada, akki roti etc. This is a quick and easy recipe which does not require much preparation. So, try to make this chutney for family and enjoy.

This yummy chutney was prepared by Archana Chakravarthy.

Tips and Suggestions by the Chef:-

  • If you do not have green chillies, you can use dry red chillies. This will not only give a nice taste but also colour to the chutney.
  •  For a nice flavour, use coconut water if you have it.
  • You can do variations by adding either ginger or mint leaves to the chutney.
  • Tadka is most important for the chutney. Prepare the tadka using ghee/clarified butter to get nice flavour and taste.
