Dal Moth Namkeen is a crispy and mouthwatering tea-time snack. You can easily prepare this snack at home with only fewer ingredients. This is a popular snack item all over India. Tips and Suggestions by Mom Chef:-

  • Soak then dry the dal to remove excess water.
  • Use a steel strainer to fry the dal.
  • Keep the flame high only while frying the dal.
  • Add spices to the dal when it hot else the masala will not stick.

Ingredients

  • Whole Masoor Dal/Whole Red Gram - 1 Cup
  • Zero Numer Sev/Nylon Sev - 1 Cup
  • Salt - as per taste
  • Black Pepper powder - as per taste
  • Amchur/Dry Mango Powder - as per taste
  • Black salt - as per taste
  • Fried Kaju/Cashew nut - as required
  • Oil - as required for frying

Instructions

  1. Soak the whole masoor dal overnight. Then drain the water. Spread the soaked dal on a cloth and let it dry under the fan or sun for 10 to 15 minutes.
  2. Heat oil in pan on a high flame.
  3. Take a strainer and put the dal. Once the oil is hot, fry the dal directly in the strainer. Keep the flame high.
  4. When the foam gets reduced and the dal float on oil. Strain the oil and take it out. Put the fried dal on a tissue paper.
  5. Sprinkle salt, dry mango powder, black salt and black pepper when the dal is hot. Mix well.
  6. Mix zero number sev and fried cashew nuts in the dal.
  7. Delicious 'Dal Moth Namkeen' is ready to be served.
