Jain Bhel Puri – No Onion, No Garlic, No potato Recipe

Jain bhel puri is an amazing variation to regular bhel puri. It has many interesting ingredients that bring out the flavours and makes the bhel puri an instant hit with friends and family – a must try for this Diwali.

Ingredients

  • Murmura / puffed ice - 2 cups (roasted)
  • Cucumber - 2 tbsps (finely chopped)
  • Tomato - 2 tbsps (finely chopped)
  • Raw papaya - 1 tbsp (peeled and grated
  • pomegranate - 1 tbsp
  • chivda - 2 tbsp
  • green chutney - 1 tbsp
  • sweet tamarind chutney - 1 tbsp
  • sev - 2 tbsps
  • poori or roasted roti made into bits - 3 tbsps
  • corainder leaves - for garnishing
  • oil - 1 tbsp
  • mustard seeds - 1 tsp
  • hing - a pinch
  • turmeric - 1/4 tsp

Instructions

  1. 1. Heat oil in a kadai and add mustard seeds, hing, turmeric, salt and murmura/puffed roast and roast it for a 2-3 minutes.
  2. 2. Transfer roasted murmura in a bowl and add cucumber, tomato, grated raw papaya and pomegranate seeds
  3. 3. Then add green chutney, sweet tamarind chutney, sev, chivda, roasted roti/poori pieces and mix well
  4. 4. Serve it in a bowl after garnishing with coriander leaves. Jain bhel is ready!
