Lahsuni Palak Dal is a protein-rich spicy side dish.

Lahsuni Palak Dal is a simple, healthy, and quick dish. You can easily prepare it from lentils with spinach and flavored with a delicious seasoning of garlic. The lentils in the recipe provide the daily protein and the spinach adds the vitamins and minerals making it a very wholesome and healthy recipe. Ingredients

  • FOR BOILING LENTILS :
  • Pigeon peas / अरहर की दाल / तुवर की दाल - 1 Cup
  • Red lentil / मसूर की दाल - 1 Cup
  • Green gram / हरी मूंग दाल - 1 Cup
  • Turmeric powder / हल्दी पाउडर - 1/2 Teaspoon
  • Salt / नमक - As per taste
  • Clarified butter / घी - 1 Teaspoon
  • Water / पानी- As required
  • FOR PREPARING LAHSUNI PALAK DAL :
  • Clarified butter / घी - 1 Tablespoon
  • Cumin seeds / जीरा - 1 Teaspoon
  • Asafoetida / हिंग - A pinch
  • Dry red chilli / सूखी लाल मिर्च - 2
  • Ginger-lahsun paste / अदरक लहसुन की पेस्ट - 1 Teaspoon
  • Onion / प्याज़ - 1 Finely chopped
  • Salt / नमक - As per taste
  • Turmeric powder / हल्दी पाउडर - 1/2 Teaspoon
  • Red chilli powder / लाल मिर्च पाउडर - 1 Teaspoon
  • Coriander powder / धनिया पाउडर - 1 Teaspoon
  • Cumin seeds powder / जीरा पाउडर - 1 Teaspoon
  • Spinach / पालक - A bunch finely chopped
  • FOR PREPARING TADKA :
  • Clarified butter / घी - 1 Tablespoon
  • Garlic / लहसुन - 6 to 7 Cloves finely chopped
  • Red chilli powder / लाल मिर्च पाउडर - 1 Teaspoon

Instructions

  1. FOR BOILING LENTILS :
  2. Wash and soak all dals for 1 hour. Then transfer it to a pressure cooker. Add turmeric powder, salt, and ghee. Cook it till 2 to 3 whistles on a high flame. Turn off the flame. Take it out to bowl and keep it aside.
  3. FOR PREPARING LAHSUNI PALAK DAL :
  4. Heat ghee in a pan. Add cumin seeds, asafoetida, dry red chilli, ginger-garlic paste, and onion. Mix well.
  5. Saute it for 1 minute on medium flame and add salt, turmeric powder, red chilli powder, coriander powder, and cumin seeds powder. Mix well for 1 minute on medium flame.
  6. Now add spinach. Mix well and cook it for 1 to 2 minutes on medium flame until spinach turns soft.
  7. Then add cooked lentils. Mix well. Cook it for 3 to 4 minutes on medium flame until it starts to boil.
  8. FOR PREPARING TADKA :
  9. Heat ghee in a tadka pan. Add garlic. Saute it for 30 to 40 seconds. Then turn off the flame. Add red chilli powder. Pour it on the prepared dal. Mix well.
  10. Once done, take it out to a serving bowl.
  11. 'Lahsuni Palak Dal' is ready to be served.
