Murukku | Chakli is a crunchy and tasty snack famous across India.

Murukku | Chakli is a mouthwatering snack. The rice flour, roasted Bengal gram powder, cornflour mixed with some spices and butter to make a dough. This dough shaped into Murukku | Chakli using chakli maker and fried. This is a crispy and yummy tea-time snack. This snack made all over India and loved by all. This is a very easy and instant recipe with fewer ingredients. So, try to make this snack at home and enjoy!!

Tips and Suggestions from Mom Chef:-

  • Depending upon the kadai size, you can fry up to 5 – 6 chakli at a time.
  • Fry it on a low flame to get a perfect crispy texture.
  • You can store this in an airtight container for up to 5 weeks.

Ingredients

  • Rice flour - 1 Cup
  • Roasted bengal gram/Daaliya dal - 1/2 powdered
  • Corn flour - 1 Tablespoon
  • Melted butter - 2 Tablespoon
  • Salt - as per taste
  • Cumin seeds - 1 Teaspoon
  • Red chilli powder - 1 Teaspoon
  • Carom seeds/Ajwain - 1/2 Teaspoon
  • Sesame seeds - 1/2 Teaspoon
  • Oil - as required for frying

Instructions

  1. Melt the butter in a small pan.
  2. Take a bowl and add rice flour, roasted bengal gram powder, corn flour, salt, red chilli powder, cumin seeds, carom seeds, sesame seeds. Mix well.
  3. Add melted butter to the flour mixture. Mix well with hands.
  4. Add water to make soft dough.
  5. Heat oil for frying.
  6. Take chakli/murukku maker and fill the dough in it. Press it to make chakli/murukku on butter paper.
  7. Once oil is hot, fry the chakli on a low flame. Fry it from both the sides. (Depending upon the kadai size, you can fry upto 5 - 6 chakli at time)
  8. When it turn nice golden brown then take it out.
  9. Yummy 'Murukku | Chakli' is ready to be served.
