Ingredients

  • Oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Pepper powder - 1/4 teaspoon, salt to taste
  • Ajwain/carom seeds - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Oil - for Frying
  • Water - 1/4 cup (for making dough)
  • Besan/ gram flour - 1/2 cup
  • Wheat flour - 1/2 cup
  • Ghee - 1 tablespoon

Instructions

  1. Mix all the ingredients in a mixing bowl.
  2. Add 1 tablespoon water. Use water as required to make a puri like hard dough.
  3. Cover it and set aside for 1/2 hour.
  4. Roll out semi thick roti. Put some slits with the knife on the roti.
  5. Make a criss-cross pattern with the knife to form diamond shape namak pare.
  6. Heat the oil and make the flame medium.
  7. Now add namak pare in slots. Fry till crisp and golden brown.
  8. Drain namak pare on a paper napkin to remove excess oil. Store in airtight container.
  9. Crunchy namak pare is ready to be served, serve it with tea.
