Patishapta is famous bengali dessert from West Bengal which is mainly prepared in the region on festive occasion. Good for sweet lovers, these tin crepes are a must try dish !

Patishapta are thin crepes made of rice flour, refined flour/maida and milk, stuffed with coconut. It is also called as Pitha. This recipe is simple and quick and a delight for people who like to eat sweerts. You can make this Patishapta on festive occasion or any other day.

Ingredients

  • Maida / All Purpose Flour - 1 Cup
  • Rice flour - 2 Tablespoon
  • Sugar - 1 cup
  • Milk or water for making batter
  • Coconut - 1 Cup (fresh or desiccated)
  • Ghee/Clarified butter - 2 Tablespoon
  • Powdered Cardamom - 2
  • Cinnamon powder - Two Pinch
  • Oil as required for shallow frying
  • Suji/Semolina - 2 Tablespoon

Instructions

  1. Mix together maida/refined flour, suji/semolina, rice flour and sugar.
  2. Add milk to the flour mix to make a batter of pancake consistency.
  3. Take a pan and add ghee/clarified butter.
  4. Add the sugar to it and caramelise it.
  5. When caramelised, add the coconut and the spices. Mix well.
  6. Heat a nonstick tawa. Pour a ladle-full of batter. Spread it evenly.
  7. Apply oil on sides and cook from one side.
  8. Add a spoon of the stuffing and fold the crepes.
  9. Your yummy Patishapta is ready to be served. Serve with milk or as you want.
