Ingredients

  • Tomatoes - 4 finely chopped
  • Onions - 1 or 2 finely chopped medium sized
  • Butter- 1 teaspoon
  • Cumin seeds- 1 teaspoon
  • Green chillies - 3 or 4 finely chopped
  • Capsicum - 1 cup finely chopped
  • Boiled Potatoes - 2 small or 1 big
  • Boiled Peas- 1 cup
  • Salt - 1 teaspoon, Pav bhaji masala- 1 1/2 teaspoon, Garam masala - 1 teaspoon, Chilly powder- 1/2 teaspoon
  • For garnishing - Chopped onions
  • A slice of lemon to serve.
  • Pavs - 2
  • Butter to roast the pavs - 2 tablespoon

Instructions

  1. For BHAJI :
  2. Heat a pan , add butter and then add cumin seeds . Let the cumin seeds splatter
  3. Now add onions , saute it till it turns translucent / brownish. Add the green chilies to it let it cook for a minute
  4. Now add the tomatoes and let it cook for 5-6 minutes again
  5. Now add the boiled potatoes and peas and also the capsicum. Saute well and let it cook for 2 minutes
  6. Now add the dry spices like pav bhaji masala, chili powder and garam masala, add salt and saute.
  7. Now add little water and let it cook for sometime.
  8. If required you can put it in the blender and make a smooth paste like gravy for this mixture. This step is optional
  9. Garnish with onions. Serve with a slice of lemon and butter.
  10. For PAV :
  11. Slice each pav into two , horizontally. Apply butter on both sides of the pav . Heat a tava , cook the pavs from both the sides , till they are slightly brown. They are done
  12. Delicious and blissful home made Pav Bhaji is ready. Serve it hot and enjoy !
