Rasam Powder | Homemade Rasam Powder is an aromatic and flavourful masala.

Rasam Powder | Homemade Rasam Powder is used to make a very popular dish – Rasam. This masala is super easy and quick to prepare with easily available ingredients. You just need to take care of the proportion of all the spices for perfect rasam powder. You need to roast and grind the whole spices to make this masala. This is fresh and full of flavours. Moreover, this has many health benefits. So, try this masala at home and do share your feedback with us.

Tips and Suggestions by Mom Chef:-

  • The proportion of whole spices should be proper for the perfect rasam powder.
  • Roast the whole spices on a low flame, else they will burn. Also, keep stirring the spices while roasting.
  • You can store this powder in an airtight container for a month.

Ingredients

  • Coriander Seeds - 3/4 Cup
  • Toor Dal/Pigeon peas - 1/4 Cup
  • Kali Mirch/Black peppercorns - 1/4 Cup
  • Cumin Seeds - 1/4 Cup
  • Dana Methi/Fenugreek Seeds - 2 Tablepoon
  • Dry Red Chilli - 1/2 Cup
  • Curry Leaves - 1/4 Cup
  • Hing/Asafoetida - 1/2 Teaspoon
  • Ghee/Clarified Butter - as required

Instructions

  1. Heat a few drops of ghee in a kadai. Then, add coriander seeds and roast it on a low flame until they become aromatic and begin to splutter. Once roasted take out on a plate.
  2. Repeat the same process to roast all the other ingredients separately with a few drops of ghee. Then let them cool completely.
  3. Grind them to make a fine powder.
  4. Rasam Powder | Homemade Rasam Powder is ready to use.
  • Ready in : 10 to 15 Minutes
