Ingredients

  • Bread slice - 4
  • Ghee/Clarified butter - for frying
  • Sugar - 1/2 Cup
  • Water - 1/4 Cup
  • Cardamom - 2, pounded
  • Saffron - few thread
  • Chopped dry fruits for garnishing

Instructions

  1. Cut the bread slices into a heart shape with help of a cookie cutter.
  2. Heat ghee in a pan on a medium flame.
  3. Deep fry the bread slices until golden brown and crisp from both the sides.
  4. Heat the sugar with water in a pan.
  5. Let it boil. Add the pound cardamon and saffron strands.
  6. Keep boiling till you get a one string consistency syrup.
  7. Switch off the flame and let it cool a bit.
  8. Dip the bread hearts in the sugar syrup and garnish with chopped nuts.
  9. Yummy 'Shahi Tukda' is ready to be served.
