Matar Poha is a delicious tiffin snack for everyone.

Matar Poha is quick and easy to prepare. This is a delicious breakfast and tiffin or lunch box idea as well. You can easily prepare this snack with fewer ingredients. This gets ready in just 10 minutes. Hence it is a perfect option when you are in a rush. As we know green peas are in bulk in the market. This is a good way to include this nutritious food in your diet. This poha is a very healthy and fulfilling meal. So, try to make it at home and let us know your feedback.

  • Wash and drain the poha/flattened rice to make fluffy poha.

Ingredients

  • Poha/Flattened Rice - 1 Cup
  • Matar/Green Peas - 3 to 4 Tablespoon
  • Onion - 1/2 finely chopped
  • Green Chilli - 1 finely chopped
  • Coriander Leaves - as required
  • Lemon - 1/2
  • Mustard seeds - 1/2 Teaspoon
  • Hing/Asafoetida - a pinch
  • Turmeric powder - 1/4 Teaspoon
  • Powdered Sugar - 1/2 Teaspoon
  • Salt - as per taste
  • Oil - 1 to 2 Teaspoon

Instructions

  1. Boil water in a vessel. Add green peas and pinch of salt. Cover and let it boil on a high flame.
  2. Wash the poha/flattened rice and strain it. Keep aside.
  3. Meanwhile, heat oil in a pan.
  4. Add mustard seeds and asafoetida. Let the seeds crackle.
  5. Add green chilli and chopped onion. Saute on a medium flame.
  6. Add salt, powdered sugar, turmeric powder and lemon juice to the soaked poha/flattened rice. Mix well.
  7. Once the onion turns translucent, add soaked poha to it. Mix well.
  8. Switch off the flame of green peas. Strain it. Add boiled green peas to the poha. Mix well. Switch off the flame. Garnish the poha with chopped coriander leaves.
  9. Delicious 'Matar Poha' is ready to be served. Sprinkle bhujia on the top before serving.
