Ingredients

  • FOR WHITE LAYER :
  • Mawa(grated) - 200 grams(1 cup)
  • Sugar powder - 70 grams(1/3 cup)
  • Cardamom powder - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Ghee - 2 teaspoons
  • INGREDIENTS FOR CHOCOLATE LAYER :
  • Mawa(grated) - 200 grams (1 cup)
  • Sugar powder - 70grams (1/3 cup)
  • Cocoa powder - 2 tablespoons
  • Ghee - 2 teaspoons
  • Dry fruits for garnishing

Instructions

  1. FOR WHITE LAYER : Heat ghee in a heavy bottom pan on low flame. Add mawa and sugar powder.
  2. Keep on stirring till the sugar melts.
  3. Roast for 5 minutes. Stir occasionally otherwise mawa would stick on the bottom of pan .
  4. When mawa changes colour and thickens, add cardamom powder. Mix well and turn off the gas.
  5. Transfer roasted mawa into greased tray and make it smooth from the top with greased spoon .
  6. Let it cool for 15 minutes.
  7. FOR CHOCOLATE LAYER : Follow the same steps as for mawa layer.
  8. Heat ghee into a heavy bottom pan on low flame. Add mawa, sugar powder. cocoa powder.
  9. Mix well till sugar melts. Keep stirring occasionally.
  10. When it changes colour and thickens, turn off the gas.
  11. Transfer roasted chocolate layer on the mawa white layer and spread with greased spoon and make it smooth from top.
  12. Let it cool for one hour.
  13. After one hour, cut into desired shape and garnish with dry fruits.
  14. Two layered chocolate barfi is ready to be relished.
