Vegetable Poha Tikki – Tasty Snack

Today morning I was having some boiled potatoes left out from last night dinner. So I tried making yum “Vegetable Poha Tikkies” out of them by adding some vegetables that turned awesome in taste. It’s a very quick recipe that hardly takes 10-15 minutes for the overall preparation and cooking.

Ingredients

  • Poha/ rice flakes - 1 cup
  • Boiled and mashed potatoes - 2
  • Spices - Red chilli powder, turmeric powder, chaat masala, amchur, corn flour - 1/2 tablespoon
  • Capsicum finely chopped (of any color) - 1/4th cup
  • Chopped green chilies - 2
  • Chopped coriander leaves - less than 1/4th cup
  • Lemon juice (optional) - 1 tablespoon
  • Oil as required to shallow fry the tikkis
  • Salt to taste
  • Some additional chaat masala for garnishing

Instructions

  1. Take a bowl and mix all above spices, poha, potatoes, capsicum, salt, green chilies, coriander leaves, lemon juice.
  2. Mix them well and make a dough out of it.
  3. Make small round shaped tikkis from it and place them in a plate. Around 10 tikkis will be made.
  4. Meanwhile heat some oil in a broad pan on medium flame.
  5. Place 5-6 tikkis at once in oil and shallow fry them for 1 minute.
  6. Flip them and fry them from other side too for another 1-2 minute.
  7. Transfer them in a tissue paper to remove excess oil.
  8. Yummy "Vegetable Poha Tikkis" are ready to be serve with ketchup. Sprinkle chaat masala before serving.
