The largest organ of your body is – SKIN. It does a lot for us. It protects the whole body from outer environment. It stores moisture and fat in it, protect from sun & heat, excrete oil and sweat. Our hard-working skin deserves lot of care. So, next in our body care series, we bring you the DIY body butter recipes.
Difference between body lotion and body butter
Lotions or creams available in the markets are always lighter than a body butter. It is so because almost all of them are water based. They use emulsifiers to mix water and oil. Also, beeswax is used in them to give it a lotion or cream like consistency. Since, the body lotions are lighter and water based, they last for few hours. For rougher skins (the body skin and not the facial skin) body butter gives a lasting moisture.
If you want to treat your dry and dull skin with a great moisturizer but are afraid of those expensive bottles with lots chemicals in it, these natural recipes are perfect for you.

- You can use almond oil also to add vitamin E in your butter or you can add a few drops of pure (good quality) vitamin E oil also for extra dose of nourishment. That will add to its shelf life too.
- These butters can hold their consistency till 23-24 degree centigrade. If your bathroom is hotter, store it in refrigerator else it may start melting.
- For best results, use the homemade body butter all over your body after shower and your skin will stay hydrated all day!
