Adai Dosa is a nutritious south Indian dish.

Adai Dosa is a protein-rich popular breakfast. It is an easy breakfast prepared with different types of lentils and rice. This dosa batter does not require fermentation. Moreover, it does not require fruit salt or baking soda as well. The sour, sweet, and tangy coconut chutney goes well with healthy dosa. In addition, this dosa is the best option for your family.   • You can use any type of rice to prepare this dish.
  • The ratio of rice to dal should be 1:1.
  • The batter should be coarsely ground.
  • If desired, the batter can be fermented for 3 to 4 hours.
  • You can prepare this dosa using oil instead of ghee.

Ingredients

  • Rice / Chawal - 1 Cup
  • Yellow lentils / Moong dal - 1/4 Cup
  • Black gram / Urad dal - 1/4 Cup
  • Bengal Gram / Chana dal - 1/4 Cup
  • Pigeon peas / Arhar dal - 1/4 cup
  • Water - As required
  • Dry red chilli / Sukhi lal mirchi - 3 to 4
  • Ginger / Adrakh - 1 Inch chopped
  • Cumin seeds / Jeera - 1 Teaspoon
  • Asafoetida / Hing - 1/4 Teaspoon
  • Onion / Pyaz - 1 Finely chopped
  • Coriander leaves / Hara dhaniya - A handful
  • Curry leaves / Curry patta - A few roughly chopped
  • Salt - As per taste
  • Green chilli / Hari mirchi - 2 to 3 Finely chopped
  • Clarified butter / Ghee - As required
  • Red chilli powder / Lal mirch powder - As required (optional)

Instructions

  1. Wash all dal and soak it for 2 to 3 hours. Then strain it and transfer it to a grinding jar. Add dry red chillies, ginger, cumin seeds, and asafoetida.
  2. Coarsely grind it to prepare medium-thick consistency batter. Then transfer it to a big bowl.
  3. Wash rice and soak it for 2 to 3 hours. Then strain it and transfer it to a grinding jar. Coarsely grind it to prepare medium-thick consistency batter. Then transfer into the bowl of dal batter. Mix well.
  4. Then add onion, coriander leaves, curry leaves, salt, and green chilli. Mix well.
  5. Meanwhile, heat the tawa on a medium flame. Grease it with ghee. Then sprinkle some drops of water on it and wipe the tawa.
  6. Now pour the batter on tawa to make dosa. Pour some ghee on top and sprinkle red chilli powder on it.
  7. Cook it on a medium flame for 2 to 3 minutes. Then flip it and cook it from another side.
  8. Once done, take it out to a serving plate.
  9. 'Adai Dosa' is ready to be served with coconut chutney.
