Aloo Katli | Masaledar Aloo Katli Sabji is a wonderful treat for lunch or dinner.

Aloo Katli | Masaledar Aloo Katli Sabji is a very delicious dish. This is a very simple but innovative sabji made up of easily available ingredients at every home. Potatoes have health benefits as well as a great taste. It is convenient to prepare this dish for busy or working days. The sabji becomes spicy with simple ingredients like red chili powder and all spice mix powder. Moreover, it is an effortless dish. Tips and Suggestions by Mom Chef:

  • Adjust spices as per requirement and serve it hot for better taste.
  • If you want, you can use garlic paste.
  • If you want, you can use grated ginger and green chili.
  • Shallow fry the potato slices to make them crisp.
  • You can cook masala and potato in the same pan as per your convenience.
  • If you want, after putting onion, you can add potato slices. Cover and cook on high flame for 7 to 8 minutes.

Ingredients

  • Potatoes - 2 to 3 medium sized
  • Onion - 1 chopped
  • Ginger/Green chili paste - 1/2 to 1 tablespoon
  • Cumin Seeds/Jeera - 1 teaspoon
  • Asafoetida/Hing powder - a pinch
  • Red chili powder/Lal mirch powder - 1/2 teaspoon or as per taste
  • Coriander seeds powder/dhaniya powder - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Turmeric powder/Haldi powder - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Roasted cumin seeds powder/Jeera powder - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Garam masala/All spice mix - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Lemon juice - of 1/2 lemon
  • Coriander leaves - to garnish the sabji as required
  • Chili flakes - as required
  • Oil - 2 to 3 tablespoons
  • Salt - to taste

Instructions

  1. Peel and cut medium slices of potatoes.
  2. Heat oil in a pan and shallow fry the potatoes on low flame for 5 to 7 minutes. Flip the potato slices in between to cook them crisp evenly on both the sides.
  3. Meanwhile take a separate pan, add asafoetida and cumin seeds once the oil is hot. Wait till seeds crackles, then add ginger chili paste and cook it till the raw aroma goes away.
  4. Add chopped onions and fry them till they turn translucent. Then, put the red chili powder, garam masala, chili flakes, coriander seeds powder, roasted cumin seeds powder, turmeric powder and salt. The masala is ready.
  5. Add crisp potatoes and squeeze lemon juice of half lemon to it. stir well. Cook for 1 to 2 minutes.
  6. Once everything is mixed, switch off the flame and then garnish the sabji with fresh coriander leaves.
  7. Tasty 'Aloo Katli | Masaledar Aloo Katli Sabji' is ready to be served.
