Aloo Kulcha | Restaurant Style Aloo Kulcha is a mouthwatering Indian stuffed flatbread.

Aloo Kulcha | Restaurant Style Aloo Kulcha is a delectable and crispy flatbread. The spicy potato mixture is stuffed in the dough and baked. It is a popular breakfast, lunch and dinner in North India. Traditionally it is made in the clay oven/Tandoor. But, you can make it in the oven too. This is very quick and easy to make with fewer ingredients and effort. It tastes just amazing with chhole or you can eat it plain as well. It is crispy from outside and soft from inside. This can be served in the parties, get-together or even in the lunch box. Now you can enjoy this yummy kulcha direct at your home by following this simple recipe. So, try to make this kulcha at home and enjoy with your loved ones.

Tips and Suggestions by Mom Chef:-

  • Make a soft dough to make the kulcha. Rest the dough for at least 2 & 1/2 hour.
  • You can use whole wheat flour instead of refined flour to make the kulcha. Then bake it for few more minutes.
  • If you want it crispier then bake it for 2 minutes more.

Ingredients

  • INGREDIENTS FOR STUFFING:-
  • Potato - 2 boiled and mashed
  • Ginger - 1/2 inch piece grated
  • Green chilli - 1 finley chopped
  • Red Chilli powder - as per taste
  • Garam Masala/All spice mix - 1/2 Teaspoon
  • Coriander leaves - 2 Tablespoon chopped
  • INGREDIENTS FOR DOUGH:-
  • Refined flour/maida - 2 Cup
  • Sooji/Semolina - 1 Tablespoon
  • Curd - 1/2 Cup
  • Oil - 1 Tablespoon
  • Baking Powder - 1/2 Teaspoon
  • Baking Soda - 1/2 Teaspoon
  • Salt - 1/4 Teaspoon
  • Sugar - 1/4 Teaspoon
  • OTHER INGREDIENTS:-
  • Kalonji/Onion Seeds/Nigella - as required
  • Butter - as required for serving
  • Coriander leaves - as required chopped
  • Oil - as required for brushing

Instructions

  1. PREPARING THE DOUGH:- Take a bowl and add refined flour, curd, semolina, oil, baking powder, baking soda, salt, sugar. Mix well and add water to make soft dough. Cover the dough and rest it for at least 2 & 1/2 hour.
  2. PREPARING THE STUFFING:- Take a bowl and add mashed boiled potato, grated ginger, finely chopped green chilli, coriander leaves, salt, red chilli powder, garam masala. Mix well.
  3. PREPARING THE KULCHA:- Pre-heat the Philips Smart OTG at 180 degrees Celsius for 10 minutes.
  4. Meanwhile, take a small portion of the dough (more than chapati dough). Roll it to make a small chapati.
  5. Put potato stuffing in the center and seal it properly.
  6. On the top, sprinkle kalonji and coriander leaves. Press lightly so that the seeds remain intact.
  7. Dust it with a flour and roll it lightly using a rolling pin. Make oval shape kulcha. Brush the kalonji side of the kulcha with oil
  8. Keep the kulcha in the baking tray. Set the oven in Pizza Mode. Bake the Kulcha at 180 degrees Celsius for about 10 to 12 minutes.
  9. Once done, take it out. Apply butter on the top.
  10. Delicious 'Aloo Kulcha | Restaurant Style Aloo Kulcha' is ready to be served with chhole, chutney, onion rings, lemon and green chilli.
