Aloo Matar Tikki is the famous street food of India.

Aloo Matar Tikki is low calories and protein-rich snack. You can prepare it for snacks, dinner, lunch, or as a party starter or appetizer for special occasions. Moreover, it looks very nice with the unique crispy outer layer. You just need potatoes, peas, peanuts, and some spices to prepare this tasty dish. It tastes great with tomato sauce or chutney of your choice. In addition, this dish is shallow fried, so it is good for diet as well.   • You can add Bread crumbs or rice flour instead of cornflour.
  • You can open the pressure cooker immediately, as it cools down, to prepare a dry Potato mixture.

Ingredients

  • Potato / Aloo - 2 Boiled and mashed
  • Peas / Matar - 1 Cup parboiled
  • Coriander leaves / Hara dhaniya - A handful
  • Corn flour - 1 Teaspoon
  • Chaat masala - 1 Teaspoon
  • Salt - As per taste
  • Asafoetida / Hing - A pinch
  • Roasted cumin seeds powder / Jeera powder - 1 Teaspoon
  • Red chilli powder / Lal mirch powder - 1 Teaspoon
  • Lemon juice - Of 1/2 lemon
  • Oil - For shallow frying + For greasing
  • FOR PREPARING PEANUTS PASTE :
  • Roasted peanuts - 1/2 Cup
  • Ginger / Adrakh - 1 Inch
  • Green chilli / Hari mirchi - 1
  • Garlic / Lahsun - 2 to 3 Cloves (optional)

Instructions

  1. FOR PREPARING PEANUTS PASTE :
  2. Take roasted peanuts, ginger, green chilli, and garlic in a grinding jar. Dry grind them and prepare its coarsely ground paste. Keep it aside.
  3. Take boiled potato in a bowl. Add peas, coriander leaves, ground peanuts paste, corn flour, chaat masala, salt, asafoetida, roasted cumin seeds powder, red chilli powder, and lemon juice. Mix well.
  4. Then grease the hands with oil. Take a small ball-sized portion of the mixture. Press it with hands and prepare flattened tikki. Likewise, prepare all tikki.
  5. Meanwhile, heat oil in a pan over medium flame, and when the oil is medium hot Place the tikki gently in a pan. Shallow fry them on low flame for 7 to 10 minutes.
  6. Flip it and cook it on low flame from another side. Likewise shallow fry all tikki.
  7. Once done take it out on the serving plate.
  8. 'Aloo Matar Tikki' is ready to be served.
