Besan Chilla is a savoury, healthy yet delicious breakfast dish. It is a simple breakfast dish that you can make with gram flour and spices that make it flavourful. A unique addition to this breakfast dish is the addition of fennel seeds or saunf that gives it an added flavour. This is a healthy breakfast as it is rich in protein and fiber. Ingredients

  • Besan/ Gram flour - 1 cup
  • Saunf/ Fennel seeds - 1 teaspoon
  • Hari mirch/ Green chilli - as per taste finely chopped
  • Namk/ Salt - as per taste
  • Kashmiri Laal mirch powder/ Red chilli powder - as per taste
  • Haldi powder/ Turmeric powder - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Dhaniya patta/ Coriander leaves - a handful finely chopped
  • Water - as per required consistency
  • Oil - for greasing

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, add gram flour, fennel seeds, green chilli, salt, red chilli powder, turmeric powder, coriander leaves and water and mix well to make a batter with medium flowing consistency.
  2. Meanwhile, heat a pan and grease it with oil. Pour the batter on the pan and spread it like a pancake. Let one side cook on medium flame and drop few drops of oil on it.
  3. Flip to cook the other side as well on low flame and grease it with oil.
  4. Besan Chilla is ready to be served.
