Bharwa Shimla Mirch | Stuffed Capsicum is a lip-smacking and favorite of all. The spicy potato mixture is stuffed in the capsicum and cooked. This delicious dish goes well with roti or paratha. Moreover, this is quick and easy to prepare with easily available ingredients. This does not require much preparation and time. You can serve it for lunch or dinner or even in the lunch box. Ingredients

  • Shimla Mirch/Green Capsicum - 2 to 3 big sized
  • Boiled Potato - 2 medium sized mashed
  • Onion - 1 big sized finely chopped
  • Green Chilli - 1 chopped
  • Ginger - 1/2 inch piece grated
  • Hing /Asafoetida - a pinch
  • Cumin seeds/Jeera - 1/2 Teaspoon + 1/2 Teaspoon
  • Red Chilli powder - 1/2 Teaspoon or as per taste
  • Turmeric powder - 1/4 Teaspoon
  • Coriander powder - 1 Tablespoon
  • Amchur/Dry Mango powder - 1/2 Teaspoon
  • Garam Masala/All spice mix - 1/2 Teaspoon
  • Cumin powder - 1/2 Teaspoon
  • Salt - as per taste
  • Oil - 1 to 1 & 1/2 Tablespoon + 2 to 3 Tablespoon
  • Coriander leaves - a handful chopped

Instructions

  1. PREPARING THE STUFFING:- Heat 1 to 1 & 1/2 Tablespoon oil in a pan.
  2. Add asafoetida and cumin seeds. Let the seeds crackle.
  3. Add green chilli and grated ginger. Saute it for a few seconds.
  4. Then add onion and saute it on a medium flame until it translucent.
  5. Add mashed boiled potato. Mix well.
  6. Now add turmeric powder, red chilli powder, coriander powder, dry mango powder, garam masala, salt, cumin powder. Mix well and cook for a minute.
  7. Add coriander leaves and mix well. Transfer the mixture to a plate. Let it cool.
  8. PREPARING BHARWA SHIMLA MIRCH:- Wash and pat dry the capsicum. Then cut into halves of same size.
  9. Stuff the potato mixture in it.
  10. Heat 2 to 3 Tablespoon oil in a pan. Place the stuffed capsicum. Cover and cook it on low flame.
  11. After one minute, flip the capsicum. Cover and let it cook for a minute.
  12. Then flip it again, cover it with a lid, and let it cook. Once done, take them out on a serving plate.
  13. Delicious 'Bharwa Shimla Mirch | Stuffed Capsicum' is ready to be served.
