Bharwa Tamatar | Stuffed Tomato is a mouthwatering sabzi. 

Bharwa Tamatar | Stuffed Tomato is a flavourful, tangy, little spicy and sweet sabzi. This goes well with roti or paratha or naan. This is super easy to prepare using fewer ingredients. It has an amazing nutty flavour of peanuts and cashew nuts. You can easily prepare this dish for any party or get-together or on weekends to relish with your family. Everyone will love this yummy sabzi. So, try to make it at home and enjoy with your family and friends.

This sabzi was prepared by Saroj Sona Ji – a lovely grandmom from Rajkot.

  • You can always adjust the spiciness and sweetness according to your taste.
  • Cook the stuffed tomatoes on a low flame else they will burn.

Ingredients

  • Tomato - 400 to 500 Gram small sized
  • Besan/Gram Flour - 2 Tablespoon
  • Coriander Powder - 2 Tablespoon
  • Red Chilli Powder - 1 Teaspoon
  • Turmeric powder - 1/2 Teaspoon
  • Salt - as per taste
  • Peanut Powder - 2 Tablespoon
  • Cashew Nut Powder - 2 Tablespoon
  • Grated Jaggery/Gud - 2 Talespoon or as per taste
  • Coriander leaves - a handful chopped
  • Oil - 3 to 4 Tablespoon + as required

Instructions

  1. Wash and dry the tomato. Then make a cross slit on top. Keep aside.
  2. Take a bowl and add gram flour, coriander powder, red chilli powder, turmeric powder, salt, peanut powder, cashew nut powder, gated jaggery, coriander leaves. Add little oil to combine all the ingredients.
  3. Stuff the above mixture in the tomato.
  4. Heat 3 to 4 tablespoon oil in a pan.
  5. Once the oil is heated, add cumin seeds, mustard seeds, asafoetida. Then put the tomato. Stir it lightly.
  6. Cover it with a plate, pour some water on the plate. Let it cook on a low flame for 10 to 15 minutes.
  7. Check after 10 minutes if the tomatoes are soft. If the tomatoes are not soft then cook it for more 5 to 7 minutes.
  8. Once the tomato are soft, add remaining stuffing to the pan. Mix it with light hands. Let it cook for a minute then switch off the flame. Garnish the dish with coriander leaves.
  9. Delicious 'Bharwa Tamatar | Stuffed Tomato' is ready to be served.
