Bread Katori Dhokla | Bread Dhokla Sandwich is a nice combination of sandwich and dhokla.

Bread Katori Dhokla | Bread Dhokla Sandwich is a colorful healthy snack. You will get the taste of a sandwich and dhokla in one dish. It is stuffed with a spicy veggies mixture. Whenever you have an unexpected guest at weekend you can prepare this appetizer with easily available ingredients from your kitchen. You just need bread, veggies, semolina, and some spices. In addition, this will be a good tiffin snack or breakfast option also. So, try this recipe in your kitchen and share your valuable feedback with us.

Tips and Suggestions by a Mom Chef:

  • Vegetables can be added as per choice and availability.
  • Add fruit salt just before steaming the dhokla.
  • Insert a knife to check dhokla. If it comes out clean then it is perfectly cooked. Else steam it for 2 to 3 minutes more.

Ingredients

  • FOR PREPARING STUFFING :
  • Capsicum / Shimla mirch - 2 tbsp Finely chopped
  • Carrot / Gajar - 2 tbsp Finely chopped
  • Onion / pyaz - 2 tbsp Finely chopped
  • Parboiled sweet corn - 2 tbsp Finely chopped
  • Salt - As per taste
  • Chaat masala - 1/2 tsp
  • Black pepper powder / Kali mirch - 1/2 tsp
  • Chilli flakes - 1/2 tsp
  • Tomato ketchup - 1 tbsp
  • Veg mayonnaise - 1 tbsp
  • FOR PREPARING BREAD KATORI DHOKLA :
  • Bread - 4 Slices
  • Semolina / Sooji - 1 Cup
  • Curd / Dahi - 1 Cup
  • Powdered sugar - 1 tsp
  • Salt - As per taste
  • Ginger-green chili paste / Adarak-hari mirchi paste - 1/2 tsp
  • Oil - 1 tsp
  • Turmeric powder / Haldi powder - 1/2 tsp
  • Water - As required
  • Fruit salt - 1/2 tsp
  • FOR PREPARING TADKA :
  • Oil - 1 tbsp
  • Mustard seeds / Rai - 1 tsp
  • Sesame seeds / Til - 1 tsp
  • Green chilli / Hari mirchi - 3 to 4 Chopped
  • Coriander leaves / Hara dhaniya - For garnishing
  • Chilli flakes - For garnishing
  • tsp = teaspoon
  • tbsp = tablespoon

Instructions

  1. FOR PREPARING STUFFING :
  2. Take capsicum, carrot, onion, sweet corn, salt, chaat masala, black pepper powder, chilli flakes, tomato ketchup, and veg mayonnaise in a bowl. Mix well. Keep it aside.
  3. FOR PREPARING BREAD KATORI DHOKLA :
  4. Take semolina in a bowl. Add curd, sugar, salt, ginger-green chili paste, turmeric powder, and oil. Mix well. Add little water to prepare a medium thick batter.
  5. Add fruit salt to the batter. Add little water to it. Mix well.
  6. Cut the bread slices into a round shape using a bowl. Put it into a bowl. Add the prepared stuffing to it.
  7. Then fill the katori with the prepared dhokla batter. Likewise, prepare all katories.
  8. Meanwhile, boil water in a steamer. The dhokla should be put in the steamer for steaming only after the water boils.
  9. Put all katories in the steamer. Steam it for 5 to 6 minutes on high flame.
  10. Then keep the flame medium and steam it for 6 to 7 minutes.
  11. After 12 minutes, insert a knife to check. If it comes out clean then it is perfectly cooked. Else steam it for 2 to 3 minutes more.
  12. Now take it out from the steamer. Keep it aside and let it cool down. Then de-mould it.
  13. FOR PREPARING TADKA :
  14. Heat oil in a pan. Add mustard seeds, sesame seeds, and green chilli. Mix well.
  15. Pour tadka on the steamed dhokla. Garnish it with coriander leaves and red chilli flakes. Cut it and transfer it to a serving plate.
