Chocolate Sooji Halwa : Dessert with a Twist

Sooji halwa is a very popular Indian dessert. By adding cocoa powder, I gave a twist to this recipe. I am sure your kids are gonna love it. You can use chocolate chips to garnish this halwa. Although I skipped it.

Ingredients

  • Sooji/ Semolina : 1/4 Cup
  • Cocoa powder : 1/2 tablespoon
  • Ghee : 2 tablespoon
  • Green cardamom powder : 1/4 teaspoon
  • Sugar : 1/4 Cup
  • Boiling hot water : around 1 cup
  • Sliced almonds and cashewnuts for garnishing

Instructions

  1. Heat ghee in a kadhai.
  2. Once the ghee melts, add sooji/semolina and roast till it starts giving a nice aroma and the color changes to light golden brown.
  3. Add cocoa powder. Mix it well.
  4. Add the boiling hot water slowly and keep stirring the halwa.
  5. Add sugar and green cardamom powder and mix well.
  6. Once the sugar mixes completely, cover the kadhai and let the halwa simmer for 2 more minutes.
  7. Transfer the halwa into a serving bowl.
  8. Garnish it with the sliced almonds and cashewnuts and serve hot or warm.
  9. Yummy 'Chocolate Sooji Halwa' is ready !Enjoy !!
