Crispy Corn Chaat is an instant monsoon special snack.

Crispy Corn Chaat is not only simple and quick but also a delicious appetizer. It is made from sweet corn, corn flour, onion, coriander leaves, and some spices. In addition, sweet corn is a versatile ingredient that can be transformed into so many yummy dishes. This chaat is great to enjoy as an evening snack or party starter. Tips and suggestions by a Mom Chef:

  • If parboiled corn is dry, add some drops of water while adding corn flour.
  • Cover the pan immediately after adding corn to the hot oil.
  • Add the oil to 1/4 part of the frying pan.
  • When the corn’s frying noise stops, it indicates that the corn is almost fried.

Ingredients

  • FOR FRYING SWEET CORN :
  • Sweet corn - 1 Cup
  • Salt - As per taste
  • Water - As required
  • Corn flour - 4 to 5 Teaspoons
  • Black pepper powder / Kali mirch powder - 1/4 Teaspoon
  • FOR PREPARING CRISPY CORN CHAAT :
  • Onion / Pyaz - 1 Finely chopped
  • Coriander leaves / Hara dhaniya - A handful
  • Chaat masala - 1 Tablespoon + For garnishing
  • Black pepper powder / Kali mirch powder - 1/4 Teaspoon
  • Red chilli powder / Lal mirchi powder - 1/2 Teaspoon
  • Salt - As per taste
  • Lemon juice / Nimbu ka ras - Of 1 lemon

Instructions

  1. Boil water in a pan. Add salt and corn. Cook it on a medium to high flame for 2 to 3 minutes and then drain the water.
  2. Take out parboiled sweet corn in a large bowl. Add corn flour, salt, and black pepper powder. Mix well.
  3. Now take corn flour coated sweet corn in a slotted spoon and remove excess corn flour.
  4. Meanwhile, heat oil in a pan for frying. Keep the flame low and place sweet corn into the hot oil. Immediately cover the pan with a lid.
  5. Fry them on medium flame. Deep fry them until they become crispy and golden brown. When the corn's frying noise stops, it indicates that the corn is almost fried. Turn off the flame.
  6. Then, take them out in a serving bowl using a slotted spoon. Add onion, coriander leaves, chaat masala, black pepper powder, red chilli powder, salt, and lemon juice of 1/2 lemon. Mix well.
  7. Garnish it with chaat masala and lemon juice of 1/2 lemon.
  8. 'Crispy Corn Chaat' is ready to be served.
